Recently, a local Japanese company reported that a Vietnamese individual was impersonating one of its employees on a social media community site, committing fraud under the pretense of job seeking.

Specifically, Vietnamese individuals seeking overseas employment, such as in Australia, have been exchanging information on community pages on social media platforms like Facebook. During these interactions, they were approached by a suspect claiming to be a Vietnamese employee of a local Japanese company. Through direct messages, the victims were skillfully guided to a counterfeit website that closely mimicked the official site of the company. The fraudulent site provided company introductions and other details to gain their trust, ultimately leading them to transfer money under the pretext of various job-related fees. There are also reports of multiple local Japanese companies being affected by similar scams.

Please inform Vietnamese individuals around you to exercise caution when approached by someone on social media community pages under keywords such as “Australia” or “overseas job opportunities,” especially if they use sweet-talking tactics. Additionally, since fraudsters are believed to be forging company logos and other materials with great precision, it is essential to verify the authenticity of any company website introduced in such community pages. We also ask for your cooperation in raising awareness among the Vietnamese people around you.
