Precautions: This incident occurred late at night in an area with little pedestrian traffic. In Mexico, it is difficult to predict when or where one may become involved in an incident, so going out late at night is extremely dangerous and should be avoided as much as possible. Please also consider the following measures:
-
Avoid walking in narrow alleys or areas with little pedestrian traffic, and try to travel in groups whenever possible.
-
If you must travel alone, use services like Uber whenever possible.
-
When walking on streets with little traffic, always be vigilant for suspicious individuals or anyone who may be following you.
-
Avoid using your phone or engaging in other distractions while walking, as it makes you a prime target for criminals.
-
If you are confronted by a robber, do not resist. Comply with the robber’s demands. Avoid actions like staring at or chasing the robber, as this could provoke them. (Resisting or confronting a robber increases the risk of physical harm. Generally, surrendering your valuables without resistance lowers the risk to your life and health, so remain calm and follow the robber’s instructions.)
