Namibia: Presidential and National Assembly Elections Held

On November 27 (Wednesday), Namibia will hold the presidential and national assembly elections. Depending on the situation, there is a possibility that actions by supporters of various political parties may escalate, so it is advised to stay informed through news sources and take steps to ensure your safety.

Although there have been no reports of violent gatherings or protests so far, elections often lead to protests over the results, particularly after the counting. According to police information, the likelihood of violent protests in Namibia is very low; however, depending on future developments, actions by supporters of various candidates and political parties may intensify, and large gatherings could escalate into violent incidents over minor issues.

To ensure your safety:

Avoid areas where protests or demonstrations are taking place.
If you find yourself at the site of a protest, leave the area as quickly as possible.

In case of an incident: If you are a victim, please report it at the nearest police station to obtain an “accident certificate” (Police Report).
