1.Incident Summaries
(1) On Wednesday, November 13th, around 4:50 PM, a bus (Route 26) traveling along Avenida Chinbirás in the Cidade Nova neighborhood of Manaus (about 11 km northeast of the Consulate of Japan in Manaus) was attacked by robbers. Multiple male suspects assaulted the bus driver and fled the scene. (Details of physical damage to the driver and passengers, as well as stolen items, are unknown.)

(2) On the same day, at around 5:11 PM, a bus (Route 440) traveling near the São Judas Tadeu (Condominium) in the Flores neighborhood of Manaus (about 8.7 km north of the Consulate of Japan in Manaus) was robbed. Before the incident, several robbers disguised as passengers boarded the bus. After shouting that it was a robbery, they stole belongings from the passengers and fled the scene.

(3) On the same day, at around 6:40 PM, a bus (Route 560) traveling near the Balparaiso region in the Jorge Teixeira neighborhood of Manaus (about 16 km northeast of the Consulate of Japan in Manaus) was attacked by robbers. Armed with firearms, the suspects stole belongings from passengers and fled the scene.

(4) On the same day, at around 7:13 PM, a bus (Route 640) traveling along Avenida Max Teixeira in the Cidade Nova neighborhood of Manaus (about 12 km north of the Consulate of Japan in Manaus) was robbed. The robbers shouted that it was a robbery and then stole passengers’ mobile phones, wallets, and other belongings before fleeing the scene.

2.Request from the Consulate
(1) Avoid using smartphones while walking on the street.
(2) Avoid wearing expensive items such as watches and necklaces that may attract attention.
(3) Keep your belongings to a minimum when going out, and carry valuables in different places.
(4) If you encounter a robbery, do not resist and comply with the robbers’ demands.
(5) Avoid walking during less crowded times such as Sundays, early mornings, and late evenings.
