According to the Zimbabwe Ministry of Health, on October 13, it was announced that cases of Mpox infection had been confirmed within the country.
1. Two cases of Mpox infection have been reported: one in Harare and one in Nembirengwe.
2. Both individuals have a history of travel to other countries (South Africa or Tanzania) and developed symptoms after returning to Zimbabwe.
3. Currently, there have been no announcements from the authorities regarding the Mpox clade or related information.
4. The health condition of the infected individuals is stable, and they are in home isolation.
5. The Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also issued widespread information regarding Mpox, so those traveling or staying in Zimbabwe are advised to continue gathering the latest information.
As a preventive measure against Mpox, it is recommended to avoid contact with respiratory droplets, bodily fluids from symptomatic individuals, and animals that may carry the Mpox virus. Hand hygiene should be practiced using soap and alcohol-based disinfectants.
