Event: Media reporting indicates continuing planned and spontaneous protests around the country, especially on weekends in Tunis near embassies (on Avenue du Martyr Taoufik Missaoui and Avenue Habib Bourguiba) and foreign cultural centers.
The U.S. Embassy reminds U.S. citizens of the importance of maintaining sound personal safety and security habits. We advise U.S. citizens to avoid areas around rallies and demonstrations whenever possible and exercise caution when in the vicinity of any large gatherings as even peaceful demonstrations have the potential to turn violent without warning.
