Mexico: Hurricane “John” Advisory (Second Report)

  • Hurricane “John” has once again made landfall along the southern coast of Mexico and is moving northward at a speed of 8 km/h. Extremely heavy rainfall is expected to continue until Friday, the 27th. Hurricane and tropical storm warnings have been issued for parts of southern Mexico.
  • Japanese nationals staying along the southern coastal areas of Mexico, including Guerrero and Michoacán, are advised to exercise extreme caution against heavy rain, strong winds, storm surges, high waves, and landslides.

Precautions Before Landfall/Approach:

  1. Gather the latest information from media reports and relevant authorities.
  2. Prepare for power outages by securing flashlights, lighters, candles, portable radios, and spare batteries. Stock up on essential supplies such as drinking water, food, and gasoline.
  3. In case evacuation becomes necessary, have your passport, cash, rain gear, portable water, and food ready to take with you at a moment’s notice.
  4. Secure or bring indoors any items that may be blown away by strong winds.
  5. Confirm evacuation routes and shelter locations.
  6. Coordinate with family members regarding emergency contact methods and evacuation plans.
  7. If residing or staying in coastal areas, be cautious of storm surges and consider evacuating to a safer inland area in advance.
