The number of dengue fever cases in the area has been rising, and the infection may persist for some time. It is essential to take rigorous mosquito control measures and work to prevent infection.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), as of September 1, there have been 13,319 dengue fever cases this year, with 86 deaths reported. The number of cases has been increasing since June.
While severe cases are less common with the first infection, reinfections can lead to severe dengue hemorrhagic fever. Since there is no definitive treatment, it is crucial to focus on prevention. Avoid activities in areas with high mosquito activity during the day, minimize skin exposure by wearing long sleeves and long pants, and use insect repellent.
Symptoms include fever, headache (pain behind the eyes), joint pain, muscle pain, abdominal pain, and vomiting, which can resemble cold-like symptoms. If you experience these symptoms, seek medical attention and get tested at the nearest healthcare facility.
