Precautions:
- Lock Your Car and Avoid Leaving Valuables Inside:
Car break-ins can occur at any time and place in Mexico. Always lock your car and take valuables with you, even if you are away for a short period. - Avoid Parking in Risky Areas:
The risk of theft increases in areas with fewer people. Avoid street parking when possible, as these areas often lack security. When using parking lots, choose locations close to store entrances or in areas monitored by security personnel. - Use the Trunk Wisely:
While placing items in the trunk can be a good deterrent, if thieves are watching, the trunk itself can become a target. Store items in the trunk before arriving at your destination to avoid drawing attention. When leaving your car, be discreet about loading or unloading items to prevent thieves from noticing that valuable items are being stored in the trunk. For hatchback vehicles, make sure to hide items well to keep them out of view from outside.
