ran has not been a dengue-endemic region until now, but this year, cases have been confirmed in both northern and southern Iran. There is a possibility that the infection could spread further, so please take thorough mosquito prevention measures and be extremely cautious.

• According to the Iranian Ministry of Health, the presence of the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which transmits dengue fever, has been confirmed in six provinces in northern and southern Iran (Hormozgan, Sistan and Baluchestan, Bushehr, Gilan, Mazandaran, and Ardabil). There have been confirmed cases of infection, with fatalities also reported.
• Symptoms of dengue fever include fever, headache (pain behind the eyes), joint pain, muscle pain, abdominal pain, and vomiting—early symptoms that resemble a cold. While severe cases are uncommon during the first infection, those who are reinfected may develop a serious condition known as dengue hemorrhagic fever. If you are concerned, please visit the nearest medical facility promptly and undergo testing.
• As there is currently no definitive treatment, it is crucial to focus on “prevention” to avoid infection. Measures include avoiding outdoor activities in mosquito-prone areas during the day (especially early morning and evening), wearing long sleeves and long pants to minimize skin exposure, and using insect repellent.
