On August 8, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Consular Services Center informed you about the spread of Mpox as part of its wide-area information dissemination. On August 14, the WHO Emergency Committee convened and declared that the spread of Mpox in the Democratic Republic of Congo and several African countries could potentially expand beyond the African continent, leading to the declaration of a “Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC).”

Additionally, according to statistics published by the WHO (with no data reported for Cuba), the number of dengue fever cases has surged dramatically in Latin American countries, particularly since the end of last year, with severe cases leading to fatalities.

Furthermore, on July 25, Brazil’s Ministry of Health announced that two people had died from Oropouche fever. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has raised the alert level for Oropouche fever in Cuba to Level 2 (Practice Enhanced Precautions), recommending enhanced measures to prevent mosquito bites and urging pregnant women to reconsider non-essential travel.

As such, the current situation globally is marked by the spread of infectious diseases like Mpox, dengue fever, and Oropouche fever. To prevent these diseases, it is important to avoid unnecessary physical contact, take precautions against mosquito bites by using repellents, and wear long sleeves and pants.
