1. Details of the Incident
(1) While walking in the Agdal district, the individual was approached by a group of people speaking Chinese, who appeared to be of Chinese and African descent.
(2) When the individual tried to walk away, the group followed, prompting the person to take refuge in a nearby épicerie (small grocery store).
(3) The group entered the store after the individual, spoke to them inside for a while, and then eventually left the premises.
2. Embassy Comments
(1) While the group’s intentions remain unclear, we urge all Japanese nationals in the area to avoid walking alone or going out at night to minimize the risk of trouble.
(2) If you encounter a suspicious group, do not make eye contact and leave the area immediately.
(3) If you feel threatened, quickly move to a crowded and well-lit location.
(4) In the event of any trouble, contact the local police and the Embassy without delay.
