Brazil: Bus Robbery Incidents in Various Districts of Manaus

Incident Summary:

1. June 4, 2024, 5:20 AM – Jorge Teixeira District:
   • A mini-bus, known locally as “Especial,” transporting workers from the Manaus Industrial Complex was targeted by robbers. The bus driver was injured while trying to escape from two assailants on a motorcycle. During the escape attempt, the mini-bus collided with parked vehicles. The robbers fired multiple gunshots, with one bullet hitting the bus’s front windshield. Fortunately, no passengers were injured.

2. June 4, 2024, 6:30 AM – Nova Esperança District:
   • A bus (Line 221) traveling through Nova Esperança was boarded by three robbers armed with homemade weapons. The robbers stole mobile phones and wallets from all passengers before exiting at a different stop and fleeing the scene.
