On February 18, a vehicle belonging to a Japanese national was stolen from the parking lot of JP Bezuidenhout Park in Johannesburg.

Details of the Incident:

1. Incident Overview:
• On Sunday, February 18, around noon, the Japanese national visited JP Bezuidenhout Park (17th Ave, JP Bezuidenhout Park, Edenvale, 1609) in Johannesburg. After parking their car in the parking lot and locking it with an electronic key, they left the area. Note that there was no security guard stationed at the parking lot entrance.
• Around 1:30 PM, while the individual was approximately 200 meters away from the parking lot, they noticed a car similar to theirs leaving the parking lot. Upon checking, they discovered that their car had been stolen.
2. Safety Measures:
• Choose Secure Parking: Opt for parking lots with security guards or access control.
• Confirm Locking: After locking the vehicle with an electronic key, always verify that it is securely locked to counter potential jamming.
• Act Quickly: Car thefts can occur within minutes, so even for short visits, select secure parking, ensure proper locking, use a steering wheel lock, and consider other anti-theft measures.
