• The presidential election is scheduled to be held on September 21, and rallies and other gatherings are expected to take place across the country during the election campaign.
• There is a possibility of violent demonstrations, gatherings, and protests triggered by intensified election activities leading up to the election or the election results. Therefore, it is essential to exercise caution.

1. In Sri Lanka, the presidential election is scheduled to be held on Saturday, September 21. Although the election campaign has already started, rallies and other gatherings are expected to be held in earnest across the country.
• (1) Voting hours: Saturday, September 21, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM
• (2) Campaign period: Thursday, August 15 to Wednesday, September 18
2. There is a possibility of violent demonstrations, gatherings, and protests triggered by intensified election activities leading up to the election or the election results. Japanese nationals residing in Sri Lanka, as well as those planning to travel to Sri Lanka during the campaign period or around the election day, are advised to obtain the latest security information and take safety precautions to avoid any unforeseen circumstances by keeping the following points in mind:
• (1) Avoid areas where rallies or demonstrations are taking place, and if you encounter such events, leave the area immediately.
• (2) Refrain from making unnecessary statements or comments, such as criticizing or supporting specific candidates or commenting on the election system.
• (3) Allow extra time for travel as traffic restrictions may be implemented, leading to delays.
