There are forest fires in many parts of Bulgaria.
If you are in or near a fire area, please move as far away from the fire area and downwind from the fire as possible.

A state of emergency has been declared in the city of Strumyani, Blagoevgrad, southwestern Bulgaria, due to a forest fire that broke out on Tuesday, July 30. Evacuations have been called for the villages of Tsaparevo and Kalberovo in the city.

Fires have also broken out in the villages of Vedrale near Karlovo in Plovdiv and in the Cherno-Moret district of Burgas.

The heat of the day has created conditions conducive to the spread of fires in many parts of Bulgaria. Once a fire breaks out, there is a risk that it may spread rapidly due to the wind and other factors. If you receive a “BG Alert,” please act according to the content of the alert.

*“BG Alert” is a system that delivers warning messages to personal devices (cell phones, tablets, some smartwatches, etc.) via the cell phone network in the event of a disaster, emergency, or other situation that poses a threat to life, health, and property.
