1. As reported, opposition forces led by former Prime Minister Khan’s PTI are planning nationwide protests against the detention of Khan and others, as well as against rapid inflation.

2. In Islamabad, large-scale traffic restrictions and heightened security have already been put in place, and similar measures are being taken in suburban areas to prevent the entry of demonstrators.

3. In light of this, we ask Japanese nationals residing in the area to pay careful attention to the following safety precautions for their own safety and that of their families:

(1) Stay informed of the latest safety information through local reports and practice safe behavior.
(2) Avoid approaching areas where marches or gatherings are taking place.
(3) If you encounter a march or protest while traveling, promptly leave the area.
(4) Avoid areas that are likely to be targets of attacks (such as religious sites, locations of religious events, government institutions, security authorities’ facilities including vehicles and checkpoints, and media organizations).

4. Depending on the region, there may be restrictions on mobile phone services, so please ensure you have alternative means of communication (such as landlines and the internet).
