Myanmar: Introduction of Tourist Visa on Arrival

The Myanmar Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the launch of a Tourist Visa on Arrival for Japanese citizens holding regular passports, entering Myanmar through Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon, or Mandalay International Airports. This program will run on a trial basis for one year starting October 21.

Details of the Tourist Visa on Arrival:

1.Complete the visa application form upon arrival at the airport. Two color photographs (1.2 × 1.5 inches or approximately 3 cm × 4 cm) are required.

2.The visa fee is 50 USD, granting a stay of up to 30 days.

3.This visa is strictly for tourism purposes.

4.Passports must have at least six months of validity remaining.

5.Extensions of stay are not permitted.

6.Overstaying will result in fines.

※ It is recommended to carry proof of hotel reservations during your stay, as it may be requested during immigration checks.

As the Tourist Visa on Arrival is newly implemented, airport staff and airline representatives may not yet be familiar with the process. To avoid potential issues during check-in, it is advisable to carry a printed copy of the information from the above link and be prepared to explain the program if necessary.
