On November 18, the Civil Protection Authority issued an “Orange Alert (PREPARACIÓN: Evacuation Preparation)”—the second-highest level in the four-tier warning system—for coastal and mountainous regions due to the effects of Tropical Depression Sara. A “Yellow Alert (ATENCIÓN: Caution)” has been issued for other areas. Heavy rains are expected to continue until November 19.
Flooding, river swelling, and strong winds may occur in various areas. Please exercise caution and remain vigilant. If you plan to drive, be mindful of reduced visibility due to rainfall, and take safety measures, such as stopping your vehicle until visibility improves if necessary.
In addition, loosened ground caused by rain may lead to landslides or falling trees. Stay alert and regularly check the latest information through television, the internet, or other sources.
If you experience damage from the heavy rain or come across information regarding affected Japanese nationals, please contact the embassy at the number below.
