The alert is based on ongoing rain expected this week. In addition, an orange alert has been issued for all regions except for the entire Pacific coast and the southern Caribbean region, which remains under a yellow alert.

2. Important Information for Residents in Costa Rica According to the CNE, last week’s rains have caused flooding, landslides, and road damage. The Meteorological Institute warns that Tropical Depression No. 46 could develop into a hurricane over the Caribbean within the next week. Given the potential for more heavy rainfall, flooding, and landslides across the country, residents are urged to remain vigilant.
As a precaution, the Ministry of Transport has announced nighttime closures for National Route 32 (Zurquí), Route 1 (Cambronero), and Route 2 (Cerro de la Muerte) until November 18, from 6 PM to 6 AM.
