- Those staying in Spain are urged to gather the latest weather information and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
- The Ministry of the Interior of Spain has continued its weather warning from the 11th of November (Tuesday).
- On Wednesday, November 13th, weather alerts for heavy rain, thunderstorms, heavy snow, and strong coastal winds have been issued for the following ten autonomous communities. Additionally, heavy rainfall is expected to persist along the Mediterranean coast, with localized very heavy rain possible in some areas.
- Andalusia, Asturias, Balearic Islands, Cantabria, Castile and León, Catalonia, Extremadura, Galicia, Murcia, Valencia
- On Thursday, November 14th, the low-pressure system is expected to move towards western Andalusia. Heavy rainfall is predicted for the coasts of Valencia and Málaga, as well as for areas in western Andalusia and around the Strait of Gibraltar.
- The Ministry of the Interior of Spain recommends the following measures in response to severe weather:
(1) Measures for Heavy Rain and Storms
- If driving, reduce speed, stay cautious, and do not stop in areas where large amounts of water may flow.
- When traveling, try to use main roads or highways.
- In the event of sudden storms or heavy rain, be mindful of where you park. Rapid water level rises can damage vehicles parked in flood-prone areas or may cause vehicles to be swept away, damaging other property or obstructing natural water flow.
- When heavy rain begins, consider the risk of flooding. Do not pass through flooded areas on foot or by car, and seek the highest ground nearby. Do not attempt to rescue a car caught in a flood.
- In rural areas, avoid areas near rivers, streams, and low-lying land on hills or slopes, and avoid crossing flooded fords. Head towards the highest point in the area.
- If caught in a thunderstorm, avoid running, and stay away from high places such as hilltops, ridges, or water divides. Do not shelter under trees, and stay away from metal fences or objects.
(2) Measures for Strong Winds and Coastal Winds
- Secure doors, windows, and any objects that may fall onto public roads, and avoid approaching items that could collapse, such as cornices, trees, walls, construction sites, and cranes. Also, avoid climbing scaffolding without adequate protection.
- When driving, be particularly cautious when passing through tunnels, overtaking large vehicles, or crossing roads with oncoming traffic. Be aware of obstacles on the road.
- If near the sea, avoid beaches or other low-lying areas that may be affected by strong winds or rising tides.
- Do not park vehicles in areas that may be impacted by waves.
- The sea will likely be in an abnormal state during such conditions, and there is a risk of being swept away by waves if near the water.
- Do not risk your life for the dramatic view of large waves.
- The Ministry of the Interior has emphasized that such weather changes are difficult to predict, and it is recommended to regularly check for the latest updates.
