According to the U.S. Geological Survey, an earthquake with an estimated magnitude of 6.0 occurred off the coast of Maewo Island, Sanma (about 100 km east of Port Orly, Santo Island) at 16:04 on Monday, July 22, 2011. No tsunami warning has been issued as a result of this earthquake.
Japanese residents in Japan are advised to take precautions and stay informed of any aftershocks and tsunamis that may occur.
