• Due to the recent rainfall and flooding, some areas of Chiang Mai are experiencing disruptions to essential services such as electricity and water, with major roads and some transportation services being suspended.
• As of 12:00 PM on the 7th, the Chiang Mai Provincial Traffic Police have announced road closures within the city as listed below.
1. Essential services such as electricity and water are gradually being restored, but some areas are still experiencing power outages and water supply interruptions.
2. According to reports, the recent rainfall and flooding have also affected major roads and some transportation services.
(1) According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), Chiang Mai Airport is operating as usual, but some access roads to the airport are closed, so it is recommended to allow extra time when heading to the airport.
(2) Train services between Chiang Mai and Lampang are suspended due to the recent rainfall and flooding (Bangkok to Lampang routes are operating).
(3) As for long-distance buses, Chiang Mai’s bus terminal remains flooded with no clear timeline for recovery. Buses, including those running from Bangkok to Chiang Mai, are operating normally, but temporary pick-up and drop-off points have been set up near the GHBANK at the highway side of the terminal entrance.
3. As of 12:00 PM on the 7th, the Chiang Mai Provincial Traffic Police have announced the following road closures within the city:
(1) Road closures or partial closures:
• Nongpratheep Intersection: Closed towards Charoen Muang Road.
• Mahidol Road: Open to traffic, but caution is advised as some areas are flooded.
• Chang Khlan Road: Closed between Ragang Intersection and Mahidol Road.
• Chang Khlan Road (Sang Tawan Intersection to Ragang Road): Open to traffic, but caution is advised as some areas are flooded.
• Charoen Prathet Road: Closed between Anantara Resort and Mengrai Bridge.
• San Na Luang Road from the railway line to Muang Gai Temple to Kawila Anukun School, heading towards San Pa Koi Market: Closed.
• Pa Ded Bridge on the Inner Ring Road, crossing the Ping River: Closed.
(2) The previously closed Highway 11 (Super Highway Chiang Mai-Lampang Route) is now open for regular traffic.
4. Given the impact on transportation services (airport, trains, buses) due to the recent rainfall and flooding, residents and travelers are advised to stay updated on the latest information from transportation services and exercise caution to avoid disaster or accident-related incidents.
Additionally, there may still be road closures due to flooding, so please remain vigilant.
