Event: News reports indicate demonstrations will take place over the next few days, starting with a demonstration today, Thursday, October 3, at 5:30PM, organized by the Movement for the Rights of Palestinians in Prešeren Square. On Saturday, October 5 at 11:00AM, the Walk Peace will begin at Šuštarski Most and continue throughout Slovenia to Rijeka (Croatia) on foot.
Expect a police presence and disruptions to traffic patterns at all such events. Most demonstrations in Slovenia are peaceful and orderly, but all demonstrations can be unpredictable in nature. Even during structured and peaceful demonstrations, expect that individuals or small groups may express their views in unplanned and possibly uncivil ways.
Actions to Take:
· Avoid the area of demonstrations.
· Keep a low profile.
· Be aware of your surroundings. If you see something that seems odd or out of place, immediately notify the nearest law enforcement officer and move away from the area.
· Exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of large gatherings or protests.
