Czech: Flood Warning Issued for Eastern Region

The Czech Hydrometeorological Institute has issued a flood warning for eastern Czech Republic. Due to heavy rain expected from today through the weekend, the risk of flooding is extremely high starting from the afternoon of Friday, the 13th. According to the institute, the most intense rainfall is expected in the Pardubice, Olomouc, and Moravian-Silesian regions. The most severe flooding may occur in the rivers of the mountainous areas in the northeast.

Note: Flood warnings are categorized into three levels: (1) low danger, (2) high danger, and (3) extreme danger. The current warning is at level (3), extreme danger.

Additionally, extreme danger levels of precipitation are also expected in the Vysočina, South Bohemia, Hradec Králové, and Liberec regions. Central and West Bohemia will have a low-level flood warning.

Residents in the affected areas should stay updated through government websites and media, and exercise caution when going outside. Be particularly vigilant for secondary hazards such as river flooding and landslides following heavy rain.
