  • Current Situation: Reports indicate a surge in dengue fever cases in Karnataka, attributed to the accumulation of water during the prolonged dry season and the onset of the rainy season, which has created ideal breeding grounds for mosquitoes. As of the first half of this year, approximately 5,400 dengue cases have been reported in Karnataka, with around 1,500 cases in Bengaluru alone, marking a twofold increase compared to the same period last year.
  • Precautions to Take:
    1. Avoid Mosquito Bites: Wear long sleeves and long pants, use insect repellent, and stay in areas with screens or air conditioning to prevent mosquito bites.
    2. Eliminate Breeding Sites: Ensure that there are no stagnant water sources around your home to reduce mosquito breeding sites.
    3. Seek Medical Attention: If symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, pain behind the eyes, intense joint and muscle pain, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, or rash occur, seek medical attention promptly. Dengue fever can lead to severe complications, including dengue hemorrhagic fever and dengue shock syndrome, in some cases.
  • Additional Information: For more details on dengue fever and preventive measures, consult local health advisories and guidelines.
