In late April, a theft incident occurred at the Auderghem Shopping Center parking lot involving a group of perpetrators. The culprits pretended to point out a fault in the vehicle of a Japanese national, causing the driver to stop the car and then stole a bag containing valuables. Here are the details and precautions:

  1. A man, suspected to be of Arab descent, signaled the Japanese driver to pull over. Although the driver initially ignored him, he eventually stopped the car and exited the vehicle.
  2. While the driver was outside the car, the man pretended to explain a fault in the vehicle, drawing the driver’s attention. Meanwhile, another accomplice stole a bag containing valuables from the trunk.
  3. The man who was explaining the fault left at an unnatural time, leading the driver to check the trunk and discover that the bag with valuables was missing.
  4. It is not confirmed whether the perpetrators specifically targeted Japanese nationals. If approached by strangers, remain cautious, and keep your valuables with you even if you exit the vehicle. Take precautions to prevent theft.
