Incident Overview
On February 25 (Sunday) around noon, a Japanese national on a business trip was walking under an overpass near the Hotel Suites Mexico Plaza Campestre in León. They were suddenly attacked by two individuals on a motorcycle who used a baton-like object to strike the victim’s face and abdomen, stealing their belongings, including cash. Even after the victim fell, the assault continued until the victim managed to escape. The attackers fled the scene.
Precautions
The incident occurred on a road commonly used by expatriates. Robberies can happen not only at night but also during the day. To minimize risk, use a car for transportation whenever possible, and if you must walk, carefully observe your surroundings and remain vigilant.
