1. Incident Overview:
On February 10, a large-scale violent demonstration occurred in Kinshasa. The demonstrators targeted the French Embassy, the U.S. Embassy, the British Embassy, MONUSCO headquarters, and other UN offices. They burned tires, threw stones, and destroyed security cameras and other equipment. The violence expanded to include any vehicles with diplomatic or UN markings, resulting in damaged vehicle windows and even arson of UN vehicles. As of now, there are no reports of Japanese nationals being harmed, but multiple sources suggest that demonstrations may continue in the coming days.

2. Safety Recommendations:

  • Avoid Going Out: The unpredictable nature of the demonstrations, which include violent acts and attacks on diplomatic and UN vehicles, makes it difficult to anticipate where violence may occur. To ensure your safety, it is strongly advised to avoid going out whenever possible.
