On July 21 (Sun.) at around 3:00 p.m., a Japanese national was the victim of a theft on a minibus.
According to the Japanese national, he was riding the minibus with his backpack at his feet and his shoulder bag facing forward. While he was looking out the window, the bottom of the bag he was carrying facing forward was cut off and cash, ID, etc. were removed.
From a safety standpoint, we do not recommend the use of minibuses, which are not well maintained and carry an unspecified number of passengers. If you have no choice but to use this service, please never take your eyes off your luggage and keep it away from your body. In addition, please keep in mind to show your vigilance by occasionally looking at those who are moving in an unusual manner, and in some cases, request a change of seat position.
Japanese residents should be aware that regardless of the time of day or day of the week, foreigners are easy targets for criminals, and should take precautions to avoid becoming a victim of crime.
If you have been a victim of a crime or have information that a Japanese national has been a victim of a crime, please report it to the Embassy.
