Trends in Japanese Nationals’ Crime Victimization:

1. Theft on Aircraft
Cash and credit cards were stolen from hand luggage placed in the overhead compartment on an aircraft, and were used fraudulently within Vietnam.

2. Theft (Pickpocketing) in Japanese Districts
While walking in the Japanese district of Ho Chi Minh City at night, a Vietnamese individual approached the victim. During the encounter, the victim’s luggage was covered with newspaper, and valuables such as a wallet were stolen from underneath.

3. Theft While Riding a Motorcycle
While commuting on a motorcycle, the victim’s backpack was slashed with a cutter-like blade by an unknown assailant, resulting in the theft of a smartphone contained within.
