Recently, the embassy has received multiple inquiries regarding Japanese nationals who have been detained at a fraud operation site near the Thailand border, asking for assistance.

Some of these cases involve Japanese nationals being forced to engage in fraudulent activities at these sites. They are told via social media that they will face violence if they cannot produce results, and are then asked to send money. As a result, they fall victim to scams and have their money stolen.

Therefore, if you suddenly receive requests for money via social media or other means from unknown individuals, as described in point 2, there is a high possibility that it is a scam. Please be extremely cautious and avoid falling victim to such fraudulent schemes.
