  • When traveling through the airport, it is essential to take security precautions.

Details:

  1. According to the Atlanta Police Department, between January 1 and November 3 this year, 311 cars were stolen from the parking lots of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. In comparison, 95 cars were stolen at the airport parking lots in the entire previous year, which means the number of thefts this year has already surpassed last year’s total by more than three times.
  2. As of November 5, there have been 3,607 reported vehicle thefts in Atlanta, with approximately 8.6% of those occurring in the airport parking lot. In addition to car thefts, 62 incidents of vehicle break-ins and 7 cases of stolen vehicle parts have been reported at the airport parking lot.
  3. In light of these incidents, the Atlanta Police Department has announced an increased security presence in the airport parking lots. When using the parking facilities, it is strongly advised to take precautions to prevent car theft. Additionally, avoid leaving valuables in plain sight inside the vehicle or leaving precious items in the car unattended.
  4. According to reports, between January and September of this year, a total of 328 firearms were discovered in passengers’ luggage at the airport security checkpoints, the highest in the nation. More than 90% of these firearms were found loaded. In the unlikely event that you hear gunshots, do not approach the source of the sound out of curiosity. Instead, crouch down and leave the area as quickly as possible to ensure your safety.
