The Siem Reap provincial government has announced traffic restrictions in Siem Reap City during the Water Festival from Thursday, November 14, to Saturday, November 16.
According to the provincial government, traffic will be regulated mainly along the Siem Reap River in the city center. Areas from around the National Museum to Pub Street will be affected. (Refer to the provincial government’s Facebook map for details.)
In crowded areas, there is a heightened risk of crimes such as pickpocketing, bag snatching, and theft. Please take extra care with your valuables. Notably, during the Water Festival in Phnom Penh in November 2010, a crowd crush incident occurred when a large crowd surged onto a narrow bridge, resulting in approximately 350 fatalities. In crowded areas, be especially mindful of your surroundings, and if you notice any unusual situations, calmly leave the area immediately.
