- With the approach of Tropical Storm “Helen,” the state of emergency has been expanded to 61 counties within the state.
- The storm is expected to rapidly intensify into a major hurricane, posing serious risks of wind and water damage.
- Please ensure you are prepared by securing supplies of water, food, and other essentials, and take safety measures such as evacuating to a safe location if necessary.
1. On the 23rd, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis declared a state of emergency in 41 counties in the northwest and western parts of the Florida Peninsula, ahead of a potential hurricane landfall. On the 24th, the declaration was expanded to an additional 20 counties in the northeastern and central regions, bringing the total to 61 counties. Tropical Storm “Helen” is expected to rapidly intensify into a major hurricane.
2. The projected path shows the storm moving northward along the Florida Peninsula, slightly to the east, with landfall expected in the northern part of the state. Even in areas far from the storm’s center, there is concern about storm surges, coastal flooding, and heavy rains. Additionally, due to the impact of Hurricane Debbie in August, river levels, particularly in northern and central Florida, remain above average, increasing the likelihood of severe flooding.
3. In the coming days, county governments in areas expected to be affected by the hurricane may issue evacuation advisories or orders. If you live in Florida or plan to travel to or stay in the area for business or vacation, please stay informed of announcements from U.S. authorities and weather updates. Reassess your plans, stock up on emergency supplies, drinking water, and food, and take appropriate safety measures, such as evacuating to a safe location if needed.
4. If a major hurricane makes landfall in Florida, there may be efforts to confirm your safety via email or phone after the storm has passed. Your cooperation in such efforts would be greatly appreciated.
