On September 12, around 9:00 PM, a Japanese national was assaulted and had their wallet stolen by a group of individuals on Rue Brogniez near Brussels South Station.
The area around Brussels South Station is known for its poor security, and there have been previous incidents involving the theft of expensive watches worn by Japanese nationals.
To prevent becoming a victim, please observe the following precautions:
Avoid wearing flashy jewelry and refrain from conspicuous clothing and behavior.
Avoid using Brussels South Station late at night or early in the morning; if you must use it, travel with others.
Avoid walking when traveling from the station to your accommodation.
Keep your passport on your person at all times using a security pouch, and carry cash and credit cards in multiple locations.
Remain cautious if approached by strangers; if you notice suspicious behavior, seek help from those around you.
In the event of a robbery, prioritize your safety and avoid unnecessary resistance.
