• In Karnataka, the number of dengue fever cases has increased compared to previous years. As of September 2, there have been 25,408 reported cases and 4 deaths (with 11,590 cases and 3 deaths in Bengaluru).
• On September 3, the Karnataka government declared dengue fever an epidemic due to the rising number of cases. Measures are being taken to curb mosquito breeding by covering residential water tanks and monitoring construction sites to prevent unnecessary water accumulation.
• Dengue fever is transmitted by mosquitoes and can cause sudden high fever, severe headache, pain behind the eyes, intense joint and muscle pain, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, and rash. In severe cases, it can progress to dengue hemorrhagic fever or dengue shock syndrome.
Preventive Measures:
• Wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants, use mosquito repellent, and take other precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
• If you develop symptoms, seek medical attention promptly to receive appropriate treatment.
