The rainy season brings a rise in the number of dengue cases in Vietnam.  Dengue is prevalent in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and other parts of Vietnam, and is a viral infection spread by the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which is common throughout southeast Asia.  The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a Travel Health Notice about dengue: https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/notices/level1/dengue-global .

The CDC Travel Health Notice includes additional details about dengue – preventative measures, symptoms of dengue viral infection, and treatment options.  Taking these steps can protect you and your loved ones from dengue and other mosquito-borne diseases.  For more detailed information please visit: CDC Dengue information.  Stay safe and vigilant this rainy season!
