Location: Eastern Caribbean; Leeward Islands
Event: According to reports from the National Hurricane Center (NHC), A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Sint Maarten, Saba, and Sint Eustatius as of 08:00 a.m. AST.
A Tropical Storm Warning means that tropical storm conditions are expected somewhere within the warning area within 36 hours.
Heavy rainfall may result in locally considerable flash flooding and mudslides in areas of the Leeward Islands by later Monday into Wednesday.
Actions to Take:
· Monitor local media and the National Hurricane Center website (www.nhc.noaa.gov) for updates and the latest forecast.
· Have travel documents up to date and easily accessible.
· Review local and regional emergency management organizations for information on emergency preparedness, including the CaribbeanDisaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA).
· Seek secure shelter if weather conditions deteriorate.
