Japan: Megaquake Advisory Issued Following 7.1 Magnitude Earthquake

Following the magnitude 7.1 earthquake on 8 August, the Japanese Meteorological Agency (JMA) has issued a megaquake advisory for large parts of Japan. There’s a possibility for further earthquakes. Monitor local media and follow advice of local authorities.

Japan is prone to earthquakes and tsunamis. Japanese authorities have detailed plans to respond to natural disasters. In an earthquake, follow the advice of local authorities and emergency signage. Move to higher ground immediately if you’re in a coastal region after a major earthquake.
