•Effective November 30, 2024, it will be mandatory to obtain the Guam – Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands Electronic Travel Authorization (G-CNMI ETA) online prior to entering Guam under the Visa Waiver Program.
•Until November 29, 2024, travelers can choose between obtaining the G-CNMI ETA online or submitting the paper form I-736 upon entry. However, for flights arriving after midnight (Guam time) on November 30, 2024, the I-736 form will no longer be valid, and obtaining the G-CNMI ETA online will be required.
•It is recommended to apply for the G-CNMI ETA at least seven days prior to boarding the flight, and it should be obtained no later than five days before departure.
•Those who already possess a U.S. visa (including U.S. green card holders) or have obtained the U.S. Visa Waiver Program ESTA do not need to acquire the G-CNMI ETA or submit the I-736 form.
1.Japanese nationals wishing to enter Guam must have a passport and a customs declaration form (Electronic Declaration Form, EDF), as well as one of the following (1) to (3):
(1) U.S. visa
(2) U.S. Visa Waiver Program ESTA
(3) G-CNMI ETA
2.Japanese nationals are eligible for the Guam – Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands Visa Waiver Program. If traveling for short-term business or tourism purposes to Guam or the Northern Mariana Islands, using a participating airline (such as JAL or United Airlines), they can obtain the G-CNMI ETA (free of charge) for stays of up to 45 days without applying for a U.S. visa or ESTA.
3.When traveling to Guam under the Guam – Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands Visa Waiver Program, travelers can choose between obtaining the G-CNMI ETA online or submitting the I-736 paper form upon entry until November 29, 2024. However, starting from midnight (Guam time) on November 30, 2024, the I-736 form will be invalid, and it will be mandatory to apply for and obtain the G-CNMI ETA online in advance.
4.According to the Guam Visitors Bureau website, it is recommended to apply for the G-CNMI ETA at least seven days prior to boarding the flight, and it should be obtained no later than five days before travel.
5.Those who already possess a U.S. visa (including U.S. green card holders) or have obtained the U.S. Visa Waiver Program ESTA do not need to acquire the G-CNMI ETA or submit the I-736 form.
6.Please note that even if the G-CNMI ETA is approved, it does not guarantee entry into Guam.
