〇 On October 26, the Ministry of Health and Wellness of Mauritius announced the country’s first confirmed case of Mpox infection.
〇 According to the announcement, the infected individual is a 49-year-old Nigerian national who is currently in isolation. This case is classified as an imported infection, and while there is no evidence of community transmission at this time, additional isolated cases imported from abroad may arise in the future.
〇 The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan has also issued general information regarding Mpox. Those traveling to or residing in Mauritius are advised to stay updated on the latest information.
〇 As preventive measures against Mpox, it is recommended to avoid contact with droplets, bodily fluids, or animals that may carry the Mpox virus, especially from symptomatic individuals, and to practice hand hygiene with soap or alcohol-based disinfectants.
