The Thai Irrigation Department has announced that the water level of the Ping River may exceed the flood alert level of 3.7 meters by 4 p.m. today, reaching 4.2 meters, and could further rise to 4.95 meters by 2 a.m. on the 4th.
In late September, the Ping River overflowed, causing widespread flooding in areas including the Night Bazaar. There is concern that similar or even greater damage could occur again.

Embassy website:
The city of Chiang Mai is urging residents in areas 1 to 7, as shown on the map in the image, to move belongings to higher ground and to take “cut-out” measures by turning off electrical breakers to prevent electrocution in case of flooding.
Additionally, the bottom right section of the image shows the water levels at which flooding is likely in each of these areas. For area 7, the flood level is 4.6 meters, so if the water reaches the maximum projected level of 4.95 meters, there is a possibility of flooding beyond areas 1 to 7. Should the water level rise higher than forecasted, even more widespread flooding could occur.
Residents in and around areas 1 to 7 are advised to relocate belongings, cut off electrical breakers, and evacuate to safer places as needed.
