On September 30, the Bolivian government issued a national disaster declaration (DECLARATORIA DE DESASTRE NACIONAL) regarding the expanding damage from forest fires.
Due to the impact of the forest fires, the air quality index in some provinces has frequently worsened due to weather conditions and wind direction. Today, the air quality is poor in Beni, Santa Cruz, Pando, and La Paz departments.
We encourage everyone to continue gathering information, especially in areas where air pollution is serious. Please keep doors and windows closed indoors, avoid non-essential outings, and if you must go outside, wear a mask and take health precautions.
