According to media reports, organizers of a self-described “Together against the Right” group are calling on people to demonstrate and march in the 9th district this evening, Thursday, September 26, 2024. The organizers are hoping for up to an estimated 5,000 people to gather at the 9th District’s Sigmund Freud Park at 5:00 p.m. to start the march, which is expected to conclude at 10:00 p.m. back at Sigmund Freud Park. The demonstration’s route will be in the general vicinity of the U.S. Embassy, likely resulting in public transportation / traffic delays and disruptions, potential road closures and a visible police presence in the area. Embassy staff have been advised to avoid demonstration areas if possible and not engage with demonstrators.
