Indonesia: Information on Large-Scale Demonstrations in Medan (September 24)

On September 24, there is a possibility of large-scale demonstrations organized by farmers’ groups in Medan city.
Please avoid approaching the locations where demonstrations are taking place and their surrounding areas.

According to information obtained by our embassy from law enforcement authorities, a large-scale demonstration is scheduled to be held in Medan city today, in conjunction with the 64th National Farmers’ Day. The details are as follows:
- Date and Time: September 24 (Tuesday) around 10:00 AM
- Locations:
  1. North Sumatra Provincial Office of the National Land Agency (Jl. Brigjend Katamso No.45)
  2. PT. Perkebunan Nusantara (Jl. Letjen Suprapto No.2)
  3. North Sumatra High Prosecutor’s Office (Jl. Jenderal Besar A.H. Nasution No.1 C)
  4. PT. Nirvana Memorial Nusantara (Jl. Palang Merah No.1)
  5. Medan City Council (Jl. Kapten Maulana Lubis No.1)
If demonstrations occur, there is a possibility that some participants may become violent, so please avoid approaching the locations of the demonstrations and take measures to ensure your safety.
Be aware that traffic congestion may occur on surrounding roads.
