On the morning of Wednesday, September 18th, around 8:00 a.m. (local time), a Japanese student attending the Japanese School in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, was attacked and injured by a man while walking to school. The child was receiving medical treatment, but unfortunately, passed away early in the morning of the 19th.

The suspect has already been apprehended by authorities, but the background and details of the incident remain unclear. The Japanese government is strongly urging the Chinese authorities to provide information.

On Monday, June 24th, there was another incident in Suzhou where a Japanese parent and child were stabbed. These incidents, where Japanese nationals are targeted, have been occurring frequently. Additionally, there have been other stabbing incidents in crowded areas throughout China.

In response to these events, the Japanese government has requested both in Tokyo and China that the Chinese authorities thoroughly investigate the details of these incidents and take appropriate measures to prevent recurrences. Furthermore, the government has strongly urged for increased security around Japanese schools across China and the assurance of the safety of Japanese nationals.

Those residing in or traveling to China are urged to remain vigilant, particularly when going out, by being aware of suspicious individuals and their surroundings to ensure personal safety. Parents with children, in particular, are advised to take extra precautions.
