• On August 21, the Mayor of Moscow and the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that early that morning, multiple drones were shot down by air defense systems in the Podolsk district of Moscow Oblast (approximately 43 km south of central Moscow). There were no reported casualties or property damage.
• Currently, there is no noticeable deterioration in general security due to the prolonged invasion of Ukraine. However, with cross-border attacks from Ukraine into Russia’s Kursk Oblast continuing since early August, it is advised that Japanese nationals in the area continue to evacuate from the border regions and stay updated with the latest information through news sources.
